Official Resident Imam
lawenforcementimam@gmail.com
Imran Ally is a career Imam based in Toronto, Canada. Imran is the official resident Imam at the Toronto and Region Islamic Congregation (TARIC), a position he has held for more than 20 years. In Canada, such a tenure at one Mosque for more than two decades is an impressive achievement placing Imran amongst an elite group of Imams in the nation.
Imran absolutely loves his profession and has a passion for Muslims learning, experiencing and implementing the teachings of the Qur’aan and the Sunnah in their lives. In typical addresses in Muslim gatherings, Imran highlights the nurturing quality and importance of the role of the Imam in the community. He is popularly known for coining the iconic phrase “every Imam is a khateeb but not every khateeb is an Imam.”
Imran’s passion for community engagement extends outside the mosque. He serves as a law enforcement chaplain for first responders across the Greater Toronto Area (GTA). In this role, he is actively involved in interfaith activities and highly sought after for multifaith events.
Further, Imran is passionate about spending time with his favourite people in the world: his wife Kameeza and children Musa, Yusuf, and Sauleh. The Ally family has been living in Brampton, Ontario since 2008.
Apart from family, Imran is a passionate sports fan. He is an unapologetic fan of the Los Angeles Lakers and the Atlanta Braves. However, as a resident in the GTA, Imran makes things right by also supporting the Toronto Raptors and the Toronto Blue Jays.
